3 John 1:2 KJV

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Health and prosperity are two inseparable attributes. Prosperity depends on and promotes health; and health is a driving force behind prosperity. God makes a link between the two and desires this state of being for all His created beings. This is His desire above all things.

Since this is His desire, all His instructions and commandments are to bring us to this place. He desires that we take care of this body and mind which He has blessed us with, so that we can reach our full potential intellectually and physically; and He desires that we shun the evils in this world that lead to destruction.

It is up to each individual to learn by experience that the law of God is what Paul described it to be, ‘holy, just and good.’ “Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.” Romans 7:12. It is good for us, and by God’s grace it can be kept as we abide in Christ.

All those who love and obey God’s Word will be enriched in this life, and more so, the soul will prosper and become enlarged with love. Hence selfishness will be dispelled and the Creator’s purpose in making man will be reached as He told it to Abraham. “…and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.” Genesis 12:2.
