Shall we continue?
Wednesday, November 12
Romans 6:1-2 KJV
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? [2] God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Knowing that we are forgiven freely and fully through Christ is a precious thought. All our past sins are completely removed from our record; and we can walk before God as though we have never sinned at all. Marvellous grace!
The Apostle now asks the question, shall we continue to practice the same sin, so that God has to continuously extend His grace?
He says, "God forbid." It is not a natural thing to do again that which we have been forgiven of.
Freely Pardoned
Tuesday, November 11
Romans 3:24,28 KJV
Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Justification means to be forgiven. We as a people forgive others without requiring them to do anything small or great. Only that they say sorry, and also ask to be forgiven.
Likewise our Lord. He does not require that we try to earn His forgiveness by doing anything good; but simply to confess our sins to Him and then we can walk in the liberty which Christ freely gives.
Whatever our circumstances in life, we can come to Jesus just as we are to be forgiven.
His Expected End
Monday, November 10
Jeremiah 29:11 KJV
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
God gave to man reasoning ability, or the faculty of the intellect. Our intellect and judgement tells us that there is a Creator, because nothing exist without there being a maker.
Though for many persons, the thought lingers that God has forsaken the earth; because we cannot see Him, and there is a lot of evil in the world.
The Bible lets us know however, that God has not forsaken the earth. He has a master plan, and the end of it is peace. Until this expected end is before our eyes, let us hold fast to His word and trust Him through this life.
God's Plan of Circulation
Sunday, November 9
Deuteronomy 15:11 KJV
For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
God desires us to cultivate the grace of kindness and benevolence; therefore He has not given every man the same amount of resources. Some are rich and some are poor; because in His plan the resources are to circulate, even as the air circulates around the earth.
Jamaica suddenly has an increased amount of poor in the land, therefore we have an opportunity to exercise God's benevolence, even through making sacrifices.
This is His promise, "He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will He pay him again."
Be Confident in the Lord
Saturday, November 8
Ephesians 3:11-12 KJV
According to the eternal purpose which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: [12] In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him.
John the Apostle declared, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:” 1 John 3:1 KJV. What manner of love God has for us, that through Christ we are able to approach a perfect God with confidence and boldness, though we ourselves are sinful and imperfect human beings.
There is nothing in us that could ever motivate us to approach God in sincerity, yet in Jesus Christ there is merit enough and beyond all our understanding. We should have great confidence in the efficacy or the effectiveness of Christ's blood for our sins, through Him the Father treats us as if we have never sinned. Amen.
Let us praise God for this assurance.
A Forgiving Father
Friday, November 7
Psalm 130:3-4 KJV
If Thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? [4] But there is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared.
There are times when we may struggle to forgive others, but for the Lord, there is no difficulty. God takes great pleasure in freeing His children from guilt and condemnation. As a tender, pitiful Father, He only requires that we confess what we did, and hide it not from Him. (1 John 1:9).
The Patriarch David knew something about the lovingkindness of the Lord. To David, God was a Father, in every sense of the word. He sinned a very great sin, yet he held on to God's love and confessed from his heart.
The Lord forgave David, and He will do the same with us today. Be the Salt...
Thursday, November 6
Matthew 5:13 KJV
Ye are the salt of the earth:
What would the world be without good, loving Christians…? Like a meal without salt, terribly insipid. When Christ was here He was a blessing to the world. Not only did He restore health to the dying but He gave the people hope and a sense of purpose, much like what salt does to a meal, it brings it to life.
Likewise in every generation God’s children are the salt of the earth. They are the preservers of this world. The poor and suffering are ministered unto, the oppressed are judged with equity and the despondent ones are encouraged by good, loving Christians.
Christians preserve this world by being a constant source of encouragement to those who have no hope.
Do What You First Did
Wednesday, November 5
Colossians 2:6 KJV
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him:
The Lord leads each of us step by step. He does not show us the upward way all at once and then leave us to take the journey alone. He is there at each step as we go from strength to strength or from character to character. It is quite possible to fall off this ladder which leads to heaven, and sadly many have; but it is also possible to stay on course and to overcome at last.
How do we stay on this ladder? We continue to do the things we did at the beginning, when we first received the truth. We studied our Bibles daily, we prayed often, and we obeyed the instructions as God revealed them to us. It is also beautiful to note that even if we have fallen off the ladder, by God's grace we can get on it again. Praise the Lord!
A Crown to Win
Tuesday, November 4
2 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: [8] Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.
The Apostle Paul was able to say that he had obtained the victory over sin and self. He was steadfast, unmoveable, and he abounded in the work of the Lord. And because of this he had won the crown of righteousness.
The crown of righteousness is the prize for doing righteous works. In Paul's day the Gospel was shared to every person in the world (Col 1:23), therefore he could say that he had finished his personal course - he did his best. He says that we too have a crown of righteousness to win, by also doing our best in keeping the faith and sharing the faith.
Be Kind, Even While You Suffer
Monday, November 3
1 Corinthians 13:4 KJV
Charity suffereth long, and is kind;
Long-suffering has a twin sister, and she is called kindness. When we suffer under abuse, but fail to exercise kindness to the abuser - our Saviour is not honoured. The Lord wants us to be His true representatives to the world.
Jesus did not utter a single word when the soldiers mocked Him, spat in His face, scourged Him, and then nailed Him to the cross. The Lord had such great sympathy for all His accusers and abusers, because He knew that they were in a lost condition.
In our own experience there will be times when people will hurt us, but the Lord would have us speak only words of kindness if we desire to speak any at all. This is not human nature, but it is the divine nature, and by God’s grace we will all be partakers as we continue to grow in the Christian graces.
Jesus is Attractive
Sunday, November 2
John 12:32 KJV
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me.
The religion of Christ, in the true spirit, is attractive. God wants us to be drawn to Him because we like Him as a Person and we love Him as a God.
Jesus did not have to create this world knowing that it would cost Him such a terrible sacrifice. He did not even have to create Lucifer who became Satan.
He did all this in order for His created beings to see His true character, that He will never compel us to love Him. Through the ceaseless ages Christ's people will be attracted to Him because of what He did at the cross.
God's Compassion
Saturday, November 1
2 Kings 13:23 KJV
"And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast He them from His presence as yet."
The very same God that gave His life for us while we were yet sinners, takes no pleasure in our distress, it is only Satan. The devil knows that God is a God of justice, therefore Satan leads the children of men into grievous acts to provoke the Lord to anger, and therefore God has to allow justice to run its course. But even in these times, when we are oppressed by the enemy because of our sins, the Lord still has compassion on His people.
God loves us, and He tries His best to protect us from all harm, but He has to balance His mercy with justice. Whether you are a Christian or non-Christian, the invitation is for all. Come to Jesus, make Him your Best Friend and you will dwell in perfect safety.

Consider the Lilies
Friday, October 31
Matthew 6:28-29 KJV
And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: [29] And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
The Bible says that the gentiles, those who are not converted to the gospel, unconsciously live only for what they will eat, what they will drink and for what they will wear. (Matthew 6:32). But God wants us to live for something greater, something more eternal, than our basic needs. The Christian's lifework is not only for his basic needs, but more so to bring souls to the kingdom.
All around us are people in ignorance of the Gospel. What can we do in our families, communities, and circles of influence to tell others about the goodness of God? As we go about this work, conjunctively God will bless the labours of our hands immensely. Our basket will always be full and we will have more than enough to share with others.
Whosoever Will...
Thursday, October 30
Romans 10:12 KJV
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The language of scripture is very simple, yet its statements are very broad and far reaching. The scriptures tell us plainly, "In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth." Genesis 1:1. It doesn't seek to impress the mind of the intellectuals and the philosophers. It just simply gives the reason of the reality that we know. Whosoever accepts this simple statement, will follow on to know the Lord.
The Lord says, "whosoever believes in Him, will not perish." John 3:16. This scripture has charmed the hearts of many, yet it has baffled the minds of others. How can the Maker of all things be so gentle and unassuming? There is no arrogance in the statement, neither is there a desire to impose Himself on His created beings- it is whosoever that calls upon the name of the Lord, that man or woman shall be saved.
The Sun Will Shine Again
Wednesday, October 29
Job 8:16 KJV
He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.
The sun has always been a visible source of hope and encouragement to humanity. All life depends on the light of the sun. The plants receive their green and other pigments from the sunlight in order to produce nutrients, humans need the sun for growth, development and also to labour. Therefore all life relies on the sun and thus we can understand why it is a significant source of hope.
For generations much of humanity has had the practice of looking 'to' the sun, as if there is no one behind it, but we should rather look 'for' sun. We should look for the sun believing that God, the Maker of the earth and all things, will send the sun to shine again, so that life can continue through these difficult times. Though we have been afflicted by the enemy, God has not utterly forsaken us.
Whatever has been happening in your life, whether you were affected by the storm or have been facing other challenges, continue to look for the sun. The God who made the sun is behind it, and He will strengthen you to endure and to rebuild all that was broken.
Bracing Life's Storms
Tuesday, October 28
Psalm 107:25-28 KJV
For He commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. [26] They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. [27] They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end. [28] Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and He bringeth them out of their distresses.
There are times in our lives when troubles will arise, some of them completely beyond our control. Even though the situation is out of our human hands God has put it in the mind of every man and woman to fight for his or her life in times of danger. We will naturally do the best that we can, until we come to our wits' end and feel utterly helpless. It is always at this point that we cry unto the Lord with all the faith that we possess, and then He intervenes. This happens again and again.
God says, "Call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me." Psalm 50:15 KJV. God wants us to see His lovingkindness in delivering us from all storms. These are the means that He has ordained to try His children and to reveal His lovingkindness towards them. When we see God's goodness towards us, then His goodness will lead us to a deeper repentance and a greater faith in Jesus Christ our Personal Saviour.
Seek God with Intensity
Monday, October 27
Jeremiah 29:13 KJV
And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.
Though Christ is not walking the earth physically today, thousands are still seeking after Him. We know that there is something very significant about that Man from Galilee. He is exactly what the Bible says He is - “the Desire of all nations.” Haggai 2:7.
Jesus wants us to find Him, therefore He has made it very clear as to how we can. It is when we seek Him with all of our hearts. “He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6. We know what it means to be diligent in our studies, that same earnestness and tenacity must be engaged in our seeking after God. A light, casual seeking will not do.
Our desire for the knowledge of God and the Holy Spirit must be intense, we must be hungering and thirsting after righteousness, it is only then that we will be filled. If you have not yet found Jesus and the peace He gives, do not be discouraged. Take up your duty with greater earnestness. Evening, morning and at noon, contemplate God’s word and pray. Make this your daily practice, and you will find the Lord, just as He promised.
Wealth In Heaven
Sunday, October 26
Matthew 6:19-21 KJV
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: [20] But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: [21] For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
The rich young ruler enquired of Jesus how he may gain eternal life, and the Lord answered Him, "One thing thou lackest: sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow Me." Mark 10:21. Christ shows us how we can accumulate wealth in heaven, it is by doing good deeds.
The reality of life is that everything that is new will become old and lose its original value. That thrill and happiness we gain when the thing is new will go away with time. The fact is all that we acquire in this world is temporary, therefore God wants us to invest into something that is more enduring, more lasting. It is to invest into the kingdom of God by helping souls to get there. This will bring the true happiness, one that endures because it is linked to heaven.
God wants us to think rationally and candidly. What we can accumulate in few years here is nothing to be compared to what we will accumulate for an eternity. Therefore this short life need not so much of our effort to be rich, for it is just a moment as compared to the ceaseless ages in heaven. Let us then be content as God provides our daily needs and earnestly help our neighbours to have the hope of eternal life with our Creator and Redeemer.
